Tournament honours fallen brothers
Management of Mjimbo’s Football Club were the organisers of the tournament and secured sponsorship for the event.
A Siyabakhumbula Tournament was held at Mdumiseni Sport Ground in Madadeni Section 4, from June 29 to 30.
Seven teams from Madadeni sections 3, 4 and 6 took part in the tournament.
“The tournament was in remembrance of our brothers that have passed away. It was also used to improve skills, motivate young players,” said organisers.
Management of Mjimbo’s Football Club were the organisers of the tournament and secured sponsorship for the event.
The winners received the following prizes:
First place: R1 400, a trophy and gold medals. Second place: A trophy, silver medals and a refund on the teams joining fee (R200).
The Man of the Match (Manguza Dlodlo), received a trophy for his good performance.
The final match was played between Mjimbo’s FC and Kusakusa FC, and concluded with a penalty. The final score was 4-1 to Mjimbo’s FC.
Organisers said this was their first tournament and hoped to make it annual.
“We are planning to do this every year and invite more teams from locations outside of Madadeni.”
The organisers thanked the Department of Sport and Recreation for sponsoring kits to the players.
Another tournament is scheduled to take place on August 9 at Mdumiseni Sport Grounds.
