Ladysmith brothers take on tough downhill trails in Europe

Their aim is to take part in as many IXS Downhill Series, European Downhill Cups and World Cup events as possible

Brothers Struan and Cullen McMaster are really making their mark in the world of downhill mountain biking.

The boys have always had a passion for bikes and started riding off-road at a young age. One of their friends told them about downhill mountain biking and they immediately fell in love with the sport.

The objective is always to finish races in the fastest time. They say they are continually pushing themselves beyond their limits on their bicycles in an attempt to be the best in the world.

Struan and Cullen are currently touring and racing in Europe for six months. The brothers’ aim is to take part in as many IXS Downhill Series, European Downhill Cups and World Cup events as possible.

In June, they took part in a World Cup event in Leogang, Austria, and the Crankworx Festival, also in Austria. This month (July), they will be competing in another World Cup event in Les Gets, France, and an IXS Cup in Pila, Italy.

They are touring from race to race, living out of a van and thoroughly enjoying the adventure. “Every track in Europe is so different. Some are long and flowing, while others are very technical, but all of them are extremely steep. Riding with the top riders in this sport helps us improve our skills and after each race, we walk away having gained lots of experience,” says Struan.

All the best, guys, and make us proud!
