Golf day contributes to school’s mission

Principal, Jennifer Pillay said the purpose of the day was to create a family day, while raising funds for the school.

Esperanza Special Needs School staff out at their fundraising golf day.

The future is at least a little brighter for Esperanza Special Needs School. It held a fundraising golf day at the Newcastle Golf Club on July 13.

Companies and community members supported the day, as they came out in their numbers on a warm Saturday to be part of this initiative.

Principal, Jennifer Pillay said the purpose of the day was to create a family day, while raising funds for the school.

“We host a fundraising event annually, this is part of our school’s initiative. We are lucky to be supported by so many companies and Newcastle residents, as we try to also create a family day out. Our school is not government funded, we run as an NPO and so we always need the extra assistance. The money from school fees alone is not enough, but we will continue to keep our doors open. All proceeds made here will assist in ensuring our school is running properly.”

Pillay thanked all sponsors and players on the day for their support.
