58 is the lucky number for Vryheid parkrun
The weather, which was clear but icy, did not seem to be a deterrent for the 64 runners, joggers and walkers, of which six were first-timers and 13 recorded new personal bests across the five-kilometre route.
Vryheid parkrun hosted its 58th event on July 20, at the usual venue of the Vryheid Golf Club.
The weather, which was clear but icy, did not seem to be a deterrent for the 64 runners, joggers and walkers, of which six were first-timers and 13 recorded new personal bests across the five-kilometre route.

Representatives from two different clubs participated, with the event made possible by 11 volunteers.
The day’s full results – and a complete event history – can be found on the Vryheid parkrun results page, and participants are reminded to have their barcodes available at the finish line. This will ensure their details are recorded on the parkrun website.

Vryheid parkrun started on June 16, 2018 and since then, a total of 1 117 participants have completed 5 907 parkruns, covering a total of distance of 29 535 km and including 1 271 new personal bests. A total of 80 individuals have volunteered 725 times.
Vryheid parkrun would like to thank all volunteers and competitors involved, and invites all others to join in on the fun by registering on parkrun.co.za.

Be at the golf course before 8am on a Saturday morning.
“We request that if anyone has thatching grass to donate for the gazebo we want to build, please get in touch with Smuts van der Nest.”
