The Estcourt Table Tennis Club reawakens

Table tennis enthusiasts will be pleased to note that the Estcourt Table Tennis Club is up and thriving.  After a brief period of inactivity, the club was reawakened last October.

Since then, more locals have joined in on the Monday and Wednesday practice sessions at the Forderville Primary School (FPS) hall between 6pm and 8pm.  As club committee members Jeshan Reddy and Mohsin Dawood explain, the main aim is development.

“We want to see more young players taking up table tennis and growing the club,” they explained.

One of the club’s ways of increasing exposure will be the upcoming Open Table Tennis Tournament.  This inaugural event will take place on September 14 at the FPS hall from 10am until 4pm.

The divisions will include men’s senior and junior, and women’s senior and junior.  Mr Reddy calls on all interested locals to support the tournament.

“To register, please come see us at the school hall on Monday and Wednesday (6pm to 8pm). If you register before September 13, the entry fee is R50. Late registrations will be taken on the day of the tournament between 8am and 8.30am at a fee of R100,” said Mr Reddy.
