Super trail running weekend for VAC

It was a super weekend with trail runs in all directions from Vryheid this weekend, and VAC athletes enjoyed taking part.

The club congratulates Bongani Msimango and Bongani Ndlovu, who came first and second respectively in the 21 kilometre trail run held in Pongola, and Sakkie Spangenberg, who took part in the third and final leg of the Zama Trail Run Series, at Vulintaba Country Estate near Newcastle on Sunday. He earned his three #Zulu #Boer #Brit medals for taking part in all three events.

Five brave women from the club also took part in the iMfolozi Outrun, held in the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park.

“Being able to run in a Big 5 reserve and contribute to conservation is absolutely special. The organisation was superb, the food was amazing and the hot water bush showers were fantastic! Great goody bags, complete with a bottle of Amarula; the sponsored drinks and snacks on the windy airfield for Saturday sundowners. The vibe was great and the race village so beautiful and so much attention to detail! The routes and single tracks were just spectacular! There was enough route marking done to find the route, but not spoil the beauty of the bush. We loved every minute and will be back next year! Well done on this inaugural two-day stage event!”
