Strong turnout for Vryheid Wrestling Club season opener
Vryheid wrestlers impress at season-opening Sonic Challenge event.
Vryheid Wrestling Club kicked off the new season on a high note with its first development event of the year, the Sonic Challenge, proudly sponsored by Orange Grove Dairy.
Event draws strong participation
The event, held in Volksrust last week, drew strong participation, with around 70 wrestlers, both boys and girls, stepping onto the mat to test their skills. The competition formed part of the club’s development series, aimed at building experience and confidence among young athletes.
Positive tone for the year ahead
Club officials said the turnout and enthusiasm set a positive tone for the year ahead, as wrestlers embraced the opportunity to compete early in the season.
Support behind the scenes
A special word of thanks was extended to the head coach, officials and dedicated parents who made the trip possible, ensuring that all wrestlers travelled safely to and from the event. Their continued support, the club said, plays a vital role in the growth and success of its athletes.
