15 swimmers from Winterton Primary School conquered the world’s greatest open water swimming race, the Aquelle Midmar Mile.
Eight novices, Josh and Rebecca Culverwell, Tristan and Kate Moore, Tayla and Cara Ralfe, Mia Muller and Alexandra Labuschagne accompanied by their parents Kate Culverwell, James and Sally Ralfe, Dickie Muller and Ann Gray all swam in the first race on the Saturday morning in absolutely ideal weather and conditions for swimming.
Nelu van der Sandt, Reece Sclanders and Abby Heinecken swam in events later on Saturday.
On Sunday, Robyn Mcbey, Kate Wood, Margy Church together with their mothers, Alison Mcbey, Jen Wood and Cathy Church swam in the Event five, Girls under 13 and Ladies over 31 years, whilst Ross Mcbey and Nelu van der Sandt and Tristan Moore swam in Event six, the Boys under 13 and Men over 31 years.
Tristan Moore and Nelu van der Sandt swam in events on both the Saturday and Sunday.
At the prize giving on Sunday afternoon, Ann Gray was presented with a plaque for having swum the Midmar Mile for 25 years.
