Prep in the swim

Proof of the excellent standard of swimming that the learners have developed was that seven records were broken; five individual and two relay events

Treverton Prep held their annual inter-house gala in perfect weather, just before their mid-term break.
Proof of the excellent standard of swimming that the learners have developed was that seven records were broken; five individual and two relay events.
These performances bear testimony to the dedicated coaching by the staff and the preparedness of swimmers to respond to this advice.
Star of the gala was Grade six Matthew Smith, who broke three of the five individual records; the 4 x 25 Individual Medley, 50 x m Backstroke and 25-x m Butterfly.
Close on his heels was Tayla-Ann Marx, who broke two; the 25 x m Backstroke and 25 x m Butterfly. New records were set for the U10 and U11 girls’ Medley and Freestyle Relay races.
The Junior Victrix and Victor Ludorums were Grace George and Matthew Smith.
The senior titles were awarded to Abigail Reeves and Oscar Hapgood, and Carey House was the winning house.
To date, the Prep has taken part in two inter-school Co-ed Age Group galas.
The age groups at these events range from U9 to U13 competitions. The galas were at Winterton and Gerrit Maritz; at both events, the Prep achieved a second place. Once they return from their long weekend, it will be back to the pool for the swimming squad to train for the Junior C Gala, a major event of this term’s swimming calendar.
