Bergville Farmsave holds grand opening
Families came out in their numbers and even the rain didn't seem to stop people from being part of the event
Farmsave in Bergville held its grand opening on Friday, which doubled as a farming expo for the community.
This gave the Northern KwaZulu-Natal farming community a taste of what’s on the market in agriculture. The event was in the form of a family fun day and spit braai. Families came out in their numbers and even the rain didn’t seem to stop people from being part of the event. There was a host of activities for the whole family. Farmers got to interact with other business people, and suppliers had the chance to display their products and put on demonstrations. Children had fun on the jumping castle, while the men prepared the fire for the spit braai.
Guests also enjoyed a live performance by the band Firetree, who came all the way from Pietermaritzburg.
“This is our way of saying thanks to our clients, suppliers and the farming community for supporting us all these years,” says proud owner Dr Lee. “This is a celebratory opening to say that we are fully stocked and ready. We also have trucks and transportation for our clients, so we don’t only sell products, we also deliver a service,” he adds.
Farmsave is privately owned and has been a family-run business since 1999, with branches in Ladysmith, Estcourt and Bergville. The Bergville branch, which is situated in Kingsway Road, opened up about a year ago. It caters for commercial and emerging farmers.
The official opening on Friday carried on into the night, with the celebrations continuing on Saturday.
