A beauty in High Street

This is an interesting tree which is in a garden in High Street. It’s the silk floss tree (Ceiba speciosa, formerly Chorisia speciosa), which is a species of deciduous tree native to the tropical and subtropical forests of South America. It belongs to the same family as the baobab and the kapok. It gets its name from the cotton inside the fruit pods, which although not of as good quality as that of the kapok tree, has been used as stuffing and is employed in packaging.
