Khulisa tackles child poverty at crèche
A total of 821 children will be impacted through these programmes and interventions in 2014
The doors to hope and a brighter future were opened to the children of Masihlalisane Crèche in Tsakane this morning (Thursday) when they were visited by Khulisa Project, as well as celebrities Paul Modjaji and Cara.
Khulisa Midlands and the ‘Daring to Dream’ movement have collaborated to launch two bold new workshops, namely ‘Grab your Dream’ and ‘Rock n Rhyme’, that provide a foundation and tools to help individuals escape the prospect of a life of poverty. The workshops are targeted at people with strong influence and personal contact with children, such as school teachers and caregivers.
The children at Masihlalisane Crèche learnt about resilience using song and movement. They were also encouraged to build their confidence by learning and practising English using traditional nursery rhymes.
Khulisa Midlands Early Childhood Development (ECD) programme aims to uplift the quality of ECD in disadvantaged communities. This is done through the multi-method approach of the Social Transformation System model, which ensures the building of respectful partnerships, collaborative dialogue and unlocking capacity within communities. A total of 821 children will be impacted through these programmes and interventions in 2014.
