Nope, it’s not the Wild West

This is High Street, Vryheid, in 1909, and not some dusty frontier town in Texas at about the same time. Next to the double-storey building is an elaborate frontage which looks (we think) almost like an old church in Mexico, of the type you see in Westerns. What that building was, we have no idea. Where about in High Street these buildings stood, we have no idea either. Can any reader help?
