Vekash and Natasha wed after finding love

Natasha Singh and Vekash Ramdharee’s passion for Indian music saw them finding love in each other’s arms.

Meeting:

“We both love Indian music, so it was so fitting that we met at a Bollywood style party, in true Bollywood fashion, with singing and dancing on the dance floor,” said Natasha.

Natasha explained that she when she left the party early without exchanging any details, Vekash pulled out all the stops to track her down.

“He tracked down my friends and convinced them, with an elaborate story, to give him my number. I admired his ingenuity and determination and as they say, the rest is history!”

Proposing:

Natasha said Vekash proposed very early in their relationship.

“It’s a funny story because Vekash proposed to me on our fourth date, to which I laughed, while he was serious.”

After proposing a few more times, it was three years later that Natasha said yes.

Knowing they were meant for each other:

Natasha said she fell for Vekash because reminded her of her father.

“You know the saying that daughters always marry men who are like their dads. I know now how that saying came about. Vekash is so much like my dad, its uncanny. ”

Her father and husband are both avid fisherman and hunters. Natasha added Vekash resembled her father in terms of being ‘old school’ and both hailing from Wasbank.

“Even their physique is the same; slim and tall. They both have the biggest hearts, loving, caring and hold their families in their hearts. And of course, I’m their favourite person in the world. I didn’t think I’d ever come across a guy as great as my dad, but Vekash comes close.”

Vekash said he knew Natasha was the woman he had wanted to spend his life with, the moment he laid eyes on her.

“I thought love at first sight was just romantic words some poet made up, until I met Tasha. It was love on first date for me. We had had so much in common and immediate chemistry.”

Describing her beauty and intelligence as a powerful combination, Vekash said he found Natasha to be charming, strong willed and independent.

“I didn’t think that someone like her would ever fall for me. The fact that she did, made me feel like the luckiest guy alive. And when she spoke about bass fishing and lures, I was hooked. She was definitely the one “

Wedding preparations:

Natasha claimed that wedding preparations were not as stressful as she had originally expected.

“Once the venue, catering and decor and clothes were sorted out, everything else fell into place. We were extremely lucky as we had lots of assistance from all our family and friends, especially during the three days of the wedding celebrations,” said Natasha.

“My family really rallied together and got all the thousand little things together. A mark of a strong and unified family unit only shows itself during times like this and I am so proud to be a part of such a loving and caring family. I’ll be forever grateful to everyone for all they did for us,” she added.

Wedding:

The wedding was a three-day affair with the mendhi on July 11, the hurdee on July 12 and wedding ceremony and reception took place on the July 13.

“My parents and three of my uncles and aunties all had winter weddings. I thought I’d keep to tradition,” said Natasha.

With 450 guests flocking to the Wedding Court, which had a colour scheme of red, purple and gold, it was a momentous moment for the couple.

Vekash wore a traditional sherwani suit in cream and red embroidery with swarovski embellishments on the wedding day, while Natasha wore a bridal sharara with a wine red mermaid-cut skirt with Swarovski stones. The top was indigo with matt gold embroidery and Swarovski stones

Food:

Traditional vegetarian biryani, dhal, salads and pickles were served on the day.

Wedding soji for dessert and a tea table with a variety of sweet meats, biscuits and cake.

Guest souvenirs:

Delicious filo cup pastries filled with nuts, dates and coconut, drizzled with butter and syrup as a thank-you treat for the guests.

Cake:

A white, gold and diamanté, four-tiered velvet cake with cream cheese icing made by Sasha Singh.

“Sasha is my sister and bakes cakes as a hobby. As a gift she made the wedding cake which took four days. Up until the wedding morning, she was still busy with it. I hadn’t seen the cake until I walked into the wedding hall,” said Natasha.

Honeymoon:

“We postponed a honeymoon to this year as we needed the money to start up our home. Destination is still a surprise and we’ve applied for passports already,” explained Natasha.

Settling down:

With Natasha holding a position in ArcelorMittal in HR training and development, and Vekash holding a position in African Mines with maintenince in machinery and equipment, the couple have settled down in Newcastle.

We’re quite settled here, but more than that, we both love Newcastle and can’t see us leaving our beloved town,” said Natasha.

Vekash’s message to Natasha:

“You are my first love and last one too. As long as I have your love, my life will be enriched. You make me want to be the best that I can be. I promise you a beautiful future ahead. I will love you always and forever my darling wife.”

Natasha’s message to Vekash:

“My day begins and ends with you, my love. You are a gem of person and I love that you shine only for me. The words ‘I Love You’ isn’t enough to express what I feel for you. You are my everything and I’m grateful to have you in my life! Kyunki tum hi ho, Ab tum hi ho, Zindagi ab tum hi ho. Chain bhi, mera dard bhi, Meri aashiqui ab tum hi ho!”
