Wedding bells for Rishvana and Ashin

After a meeting nine years ago, Ashin and Rishvana take the next step.

Meeting at the Newcastle Show nine years ago, Rishvana and Ashin Maghoo started a love story that led to marriage and a brand new adventure together.

Knowing they were destined for each other

“Ashin has always been a very warm hearted and loving person. For anyone who is a part, or will be a part of his life, will be totally lucky. He has a good sense of humour and a great imagination, and these are the qualities that have attracted me to him. This gave me confirmation that he was the one,” said Rishvana. Ashin explained that Rishvana had always been by his side through thick and thin.

“She supports my decisions, she loves me unconditionally, she motivates me into becoming a better person everyday. She never allows me to be hurt or to cry.

“It’s all these qualities, that make me love her more and more everyday, and that was how I knew she was the one.”

Proposal

Although they met nine years ago, Rishvana explained they had only been together for the past four years, and his proposal took her completely by surprise.

“Two years ago on my birthday, Ashin took me by surprise when he gifted me with a lovely evening dress and matching shoes. On the box there was a little sticky note asking me to be ready at 7pm.”

Rishvana said she was ready at the appointed time, and Ashin came to fetch her, presenting her with a bouquet of red roses.

“I was blindfolded and taken to the Roma Revolving Restaurant in Durban. Looking at the whole of Durban in one place was by far one of the most beautiful views I have ever seen. Just when I thought that this night could not get any better, Ashin went down on one knee and in front of everyone asked me to marry him. This is one night which I will never forget; he knows just how to leave me breathless,” said Rishvana.

Wedding card

Rishvana’s wedding invites were maroon crepe cardboard envelopes with gold matt finish inserts and a red and gold string to tie. Ashin opted for white, red and gold cards with religious images.

Wedding

Rishvana said planning a wedding was never, and would never be easy. “Just like everyone else, we had some good memories as well as some bad ones. With weddings come stress.

It has been and endless battle of finding the perfect outfits, the perfect shoes, as well as finding those perfect people to make you look perfect,” explained Rishvana. But through hard work, determination and the full support from their families, Rishvana and Ashin were able to accomplish what they had set out to do. Without the help and support from our parents and siblings, this wedding would have never been a success. They have truly made our preparations a walk in the park,” added Rishvana. The couple were married in a fully white-draped hall at Richview Civic Hall, with red and white table settings and a stunning gold and red mandap(stage) in front of approximately 400 guests on February 22.

Clothing

Ashin wore a gold and red sherwani with silver diamante and patiala pants. “This sherwani was custom-made according to my wife’s outfit,” explained Ashin.

Rishvana wore a blood red bridal lehenga, decorated with swarovski and crystals stones and other decorative work.

Rings

Rishvana has a 22 carat yellow gold ring with a diamond centre and two diamond bands to match.

Ashin now dons an 18 carat yellow and white gold wedding band with a diamond centre.
