Forgot to plan for Valentines Day? Don’t panic – we have you covered!

Valentine's Day is upon us and you have forgotten to get your significant other a gift. Oh the horror! You did not make plans for a romantic dinner or movie either? This is really bad.Your partner claims they are just not into Valentine's Day, so it's fine? No it is not fine. It's a trap and you better come up with a plan and quick!

While Valentines Day is a largely commercialised idea, everyone wants to feel spoiled and appreciated by their partner.

Plus, what’s the use of having a loved one if you can’t brag to your friends about how they spoiled you on the day?

If you need to come up with a quick plan to save the day, here are some tips which should come in handy:

A picnic and a bunch of flowers

With Valentines day falling on a Saturday, this is the ideal time to shoot off to a quiet spot for a picnic.

Slip off to the store, buy a picnic basket, some snacks, sweets, a bottle of champagne and a bunch of flowers and put it in your car’s boot.

Proceed home, request your loved one to take a leisurely ride with you and then drive to a romantic spot with a view (think Signal Hill at sunset).

Once there, give them the flowers and make it look as if you’ve planned the whole event well in advance. Confidence is everything!

Romantic dinner at home

This is the ideal way to surprise your significant other.

The best way to go about this would be to send your partner out for the afternoon, get some red candles, red roses and deck the table neatly.

Once done, prepare a three course meal and set up the meal in a visually pleasing way.

When the meal is ready, send the kids out for the evening, light the candles, play soothing music and for after the meal, maybe rent your partner’s favourite chick flick from the nearest DVD store to watch.

One more thing; don’t expect your girlfriend or wife to wash the dishes. It doesn’t work that way on Valentines Day!

Box of Chocolates

Every store will be overflowing with chocolate and gift bags for the day, so don’t be afraid to grab a box of chocolates for your loved one.

If you think your partner suspects that you have forgotten Valentines Day, which you have, get more than one box of chocolates.

Cupcakes with cute notes

Baking cupcakes does take a lot of time, but this will make a sweet gift for the day.

If possible, try and make these early in the morning so that they are fresh when your Valentine wakes up.

Date night jar

For this gift you need a jar and paper.

Cut strips of paper and then write out suggestions for places you and your partner could go out to every week or month for a year.

This might be corny, but as you forgot Valentines Day in the first place, at least you can spend all year being romantic!
