Thaipoosam Kavady dates released

The Shanti Nivas Shivananda Ashram cordially invites the public to attend the Hindu fast and festival, Thaipoosam Kavady.

Guests will have an opportunity to offer a Kavady to the Lord Muruga, or join in a time of prayer as we offer thanks to the Lord and pray for peace, good health, life and prosperity.

Kavady will be observed as follows:

– Flag hoisting: January 15 at 6pm.

– Opening of the Goshala: January 17 at 10am.

– Thiru Kalyanam: January 23 at 3pm.

– Thaipoosam Maha Yajana and Paarl Abishegam Thaipoosam Kavady grand parade: January 24 at 5am.

All hawans will take place daily from 5am to 6.45am.

Satsangs, discourses and readings from the Skanda Purana will take place daily. Reading of the Skanda Shasti Kavasham will also take place.
