#ShareTheLove: How to successfully ruin Valentines Day

Socks, prank calls, proposals? Here's six ways to ruin Valentines Day!

Planning to give your partner socks for Valentines Day? Think again!

Long-term, long distance – no matter what sort of relationship you’re in, there’s a slew of things you should definitely avoid when celebrating with a loved one.

Unless you’re planning on ruining Valentines Day, you shouldn’t propose to your partner after only a month of dating, while a million people watch you fail on a ‘Jumbotron’. #facepalm

Here’s our top sure-fire ways to ruin Valentines Day:

1. The timer went off two hours ago: Spending the evening at Casa de [insert name here]? If you’re dusting off your pots and pans to prepare a delicious three-course meal, make sure you follow the recipe. Nothing says, “I hate love” more than burnt food!

 2. It’s just not meant to be: Socks and granny panties are probably the ~worst~ gifts, no matter what the occasion. If your significant other opens an exquisitely wrapped pair of knickers, you’re likely to get the boot. #justsaying

 3. Put the phone down: A prank call telling your partner that you’ve been cheating on her with her best friend is definitely not the way to go. Whether it’s leading up to am even bigger surprise later on, chances are she’ll have torched your house before you have time to explain. That, my friends, is a no-go!

4. Don’t do it: If you’re out on a date, it’s not a good idea to invite your mom. I think this one is pretty self-explanatory.

5. Oh, hell no: If he asks you to pay for dinner after he made the reservation, it’s time to take a rain check on the relationship. The post-date text will likely read, “Congratulations, you’ve managed to ruin love.”

6. Here’s what not to do: Expecting a proposal? Nothing kills the vibe like unnecessary pressure from your partner. If the time is right, it will happen. Don’t sweat it, sunshine!
