Quake – PC
There’s a difference in opinion on which of the Quake series is best. Personally, there’s something gritty and wicked about engaging in pixelated combat, and watching your buddy gib from a rocket.
Burnout: Revenge – PS2
Maybe you disagree, but who doesn’t love (simulated) high speed races and amazing physics? Add in an improved Crash Mode, where the objective is to cause a huge pile-up, and it’s a clear winner.
Defense of the Ancients – PC
A modification for Warcraft III: Frozen Throne, DoTA defined the multiplayer battle arena RPG style. Choose a hero, level up and lead the Scourge or the Sentinel to victory! Map updates also include A.I. bots, for lone players.
Contra – NES
For its time, this port was the best. As one of two elite commandos, your mission is to stop the Red Falcon army from conquering the world. Shooting, power-ups, aliens – what more could you want?
Crash Team Racing – PS2
The iconic Crash Bandicoot, his friends and enemies are forced to unite in this fun title, to prevent a global takeover by the fastest alien, Nitros Oxide. Shortcuts, weapons and boss battles make for an immersive experience.
Worms Armageddon – PC
Considered the best game of a great franchise, this Worms title offers team, mode and map modifications, plus a host of weapons to use against human or bot opponents. You haven’t lived until you’ve blown up an enemy worm with a flying sheep.
Tekken 3 – PS2
In addition to a compelling single-player mode, the multiplayer experience of Tekken can’t be beaten. There are so many characters to use, each with their own style, and the combo moves are simple to follow.
