Sri Hanuman Jayanthi

On Thursday, April 21, devotees across the globe will celebrate Hanuman Jayanthi.

Hanuman Jayanthi is the celebration of the appearance of Sri Hanuman, an ardent devotee (das) and eternal servitor of Lord Sri Ram.

Srimad Bhagavatam testifies that Hanuman still lives in Kimpurusha Varsha and constantly glorifies Sri Ram through his chanting.

Hanuman desired to serve Sri Ram and did not accept benediction of eternal life in Vaikuntha Loka, acceptimg to stay in the earthly planets simply to serve and glorify Sri Ram.

He did not want anything that would diminish his relation as a servant (das) of Lord Ram.

Sri Hanuman’s devotion is unparalleled and he has set the standards of serving Lord Ram.

Srila Prabhupada had cited many instances from the life of Sri Hanuman, to explain how one should serve the Lord and Spiritual Master.

Sri Hanuman serves to be the epitome of how one should serve the Lord, he did not even want liberation from material existence for as long as his relationship with Sri Ram was not disturbed.

On Thursday, April 21, devotees across the globe will celebrate Hanuman Jayanthi.

The celebration starts in the morning with a special abisheka for the deity of Hanuman, after the abisheka, Hanuman is adorned with butter and dried fruits. A flower garland is also offered to him.

Devotees pray to Sri Hanuman to remove all obstacles in their path of devotional service and in their lives.

Iskcon Newcastle invites the community join in a grand celebration of Hanuman Jayanthi and to better understand:

1. How we can take lessons from Sri Hanuman during his battle of Lanka.

2. Why Sri Hanuman’s anger, which under normal circumstances can be construed as negative emotions, was appropriate and sanctified in the service of Sri Ram.

3. What extent a devotee like Sri Hanuman went to in order to serve the Lord.

The event will be starting at 6.30pm and guests are encouraged to bring offerings of flowers, milk, fruits or dried nuts as offerings to Sri Hanuman by 6.15pm.
