With killings almost daily, are Ladysmith police failing us?

With professional, near-military style ambushes leaving prominent community leaders dead, are local police losing control?

Another Ladysmith resident has been brutally gunned down in an ongoing circle of violence. This time, the killers really wanted to make sure, with the scene littered with over 35 AK47 empty shell casings… The man was shot dead at the intersection of Ben Schoeman and Fairclough Road in his car on Sunday evening (October 9).

The man was in his vehicle when he was riddled with bullets at close range.

It is believed the killers were lying in wait at the intersection and as soon as the victim’s vehicle arrived, they opened fire, riddling the car with bullets. Police, including the K9 Unit and detectives, as well as EMRS were all on scene. Only last week, a prominent businessman who was an uThukela manager in the Mayor’s Office was gunned down in his own driveway. We have to now ask: Are Ladysmith police losing control of the rampant and brutal murder sprees that have become an almost weekly occurrence in our town?
