THE highly anticipated Rave Reunion rolled into town last Saturday and young and old pitched up to partake in the merriment of music from years gone by.

Original band members of Rave, Clive Young and Paul Greeff, took to the stage, joined by Jason Bradley, as the hall filled and excitement tingled in the air as the crowd gathered for a fun-filled evening of dancing and nostalgia.

Along with popular hits of the 60s, patrons of the event were treated to a visit from local rugby legends, Thys Lourens and Toy Dannhauser, accompanied by Thys Burger. The popular trio, legends of the sport, tour the country raising money for charity by auctioning off rugby memorabilia.

There were several stunning and valuable items available, which would be perfectly placed in any boardroom or sports club, as well as commemorative bottles of wine from as little as R150. Sports fans were also afforded the opportunity to rub shoulders with these rugby heroes and meet with the men who held such prestigious spots in rugby history.

Vryheid Neighbourhood Watch members, as well as representatives of Vryheid SPCA, pitched in to raise funds for their respective organisations by keeping patrons of the event well fed with their popular hamburgers, boerewors rolls, vetkoek and mince and hotdogs.

Proceeds of the evening went to Vryheid Hospice and a R5000 donation was handed over by organiser of the Rave Reunion, Olivia Knox Brown, to Cecilia van Wyk of Vryheid Hospice on Tuesday morning at the Vryheid Herald office.
