WATCH: Live local bands, Black Whiskey and Bridge6, draw epic crowd to Vryheid pub

THE deck at Dee’s was packed on Friday night, and the atmosphere was electrifying, as fans flocked to enjoy live music at the local landmark pub and restaurant.

In celebration of the fact that Dee’s will not be closing down, despite recent rumours and uncertainty surrounding the future of the popular restaurant, local bands, Black Whiskey and Bridge6 joined forces to give patrons of the pub a musical experience that did not disappoint.

Owner of Dee’s, Dee van der Merwe, was blown away by the phenomenal support of the public who turned up in their numbers on Friday night.

Dee and ‘Baldy’ were blown away by the support of the Vryheid community.

“Thank you all,” she stated. “We love you all and are so grateful for the amazing support of the community. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the bands and for what you have done for Dee’s.”

Bridge6 posted on social media, following the event, “Thanks to everyone who came out to support live music on Friday.

“We really didn’t expect so many people to turn up, and for that we are grateful. And last, but not least, we would like to thank Black Whiskey for allowing us to play a few songerinos!”

There was barely room to move on the deck at Dee’s on Friday night, due to the massive turnout, but that didn’t stop the fans from having a good time.

 

A night out for happy couple, Johan and Cleantha Pollard, doubled as an anniversary celebration for the lovebirds. Celebrating their 14th anniversary, Johan stated, “I just can’t imagine my life without her in it.”

Dupie, aka Phillip du Plessis, always takes the time to interact with the fans.

 

Dupie never disappoints the audience with the boundless energy he exudes in his performance.

 

Bridge6’s George Fritze wows the crowd with his heavy vocals as he belts out popular hard rock hits, as well as lending his impressively raspy vocals to revamp older classics, like hits from Creedence and Rodriguez.

 

 

Brains, beauty and a bass guitar. Bridge6’s Xanell Fritze has all of these.
