Former State Prosecutor, Gerrie Nel, recently visited Vryheid as the newly appointed Head of AfriForum’s private prosecuting unit, after the organisation made legal history by launching the country’s first dedicated unit of its kind.
Members of the community were eager to meet with the man so well-known for his no-nonsense style of questioning and straightforward approach to the law, the ‘Bulldog’ who put Oscar behind bars and, last Wednesday evening, offered locals a deeper insight into the workings of one of South Africa’s most respected legal minds.
