The village of Wakkerstroom will host the annual Arts and Crafts Ramble
June 16 to 18 – Enjoy sunny, crisp winter days where local, national and first time artists will be showing and selling their art and crafts in studios, halls or galleries around town. Be inspired by the art and demos, encompassing a range of skills, from glass art, paintings, wirework, wood carving, recycling and hand-crafts.
There will even be artists working and displaying art from their own home studios.
Many venues are within easy walking distance from the village centre. Entrance to most venues is free. There will be daily demonstrations, courses and talks, some of which may require pre-booking or a nominal fee.
The official opening of the ramble will take place on the public holiday Friday, June 16, where well known contemporary artist, Gordon Froud will give a brief talk and open the ramble. There will be an auction of art and other items on Saturday, June 17, and all profits will go to the chosen charity, which this year is Reach for a Dream – a really worthy cause.
The art ramble runs alongside the Mountain Run Walk Challenge which will take place on the Saturday morning, so there is something for everyone in the family!
