Courier at the movies – Return to the Hiding Place
Masterful direction by Peter C Spencer and Josiah Spencer makes the film a 're-see' movie
Return to the Hiding Place is the true story of Dutchwoman, Corrie ten Boom, and is one of the classics of the WW2 Resistance against the German Occupation Forces in Holland.
This was the sequel to her story and features the Dutch student resistance work of resistance fighters, Piet Hartog and Hans Poley, who find refuge at ten Boom’s house which is crowded with Jewish refugees. Piet and Hans become part of her teenage army. Hans gets a false identity and joins the Dutch Resistance.
Masterful direction by Peter C Spencer and Josiah Spencer makes the film a ‘re-see’ movie, which I did, having been in the home of Corrie ten Boom.
When I learned that Return to the Hiding Place was to be released, it was a personal delight to learn that we would see more of the underground work this time and the resistance to the German Occupation.
Cast: John Rhys-Davies, Mimi Sagadin, Craig Robert Young. A must see for all history buffs.
