Locals put the fun in ‘fundraiser’ for Nicole’s new wheels
The community banded together to put the fun in 'fundraiser' and bring local lass, Nicole Fynn, R9 000 closer to her perfect wheelchair.
VRYHEID Junction was the place to be on September 9 as the community banded together to put the fun in ‘fundraiser’ and bring local lass, Nicole Fynn, R9 000 closer to her perfect wheelchair.
As part of the day’s festivities, a 60/40/10km bike ride began at 6am, followed by a 5km fun run/walk at 8am and a first ever 4km Wheelchair Awareness Challenge. It was decided that all entry fees for these events would be donated to Nicole Fynn, to go towards the purchase of a new electric wheelchair.
The Spring Market and Fun Day boasted 27 stalls, two jumping castles, pony rides and a dog competition hosted by HiS Caring Angels, all adding to the fun of this special day and the stall fees, minus expenses, were added to the total that went to the Nicole Fynn Wheelchair Fund.

“It all was wonderfully supported by the community of Vryheid,” writes Ronel Nigrini, one of the business owners who played a pivotal part in the organisation of the event. “All in all, R9 000 was handed to Nicole on that day. We believe, hope and pray that more donations will be made to Nicole as a result of our efforts. She still needs R11 000 to pay for the new wheelchair. We would like to take this opportunity to thank every single person who participated in the Spring Market and Fun Day. Remember, one person can make a difference and every one should try…”
Putting her money where her mouth is, Ronel has pledged a further R500 towards Nicole’s wheelchair and challenges other female business owners to do the same.
