#FreshTake: Rumour had it
Prove to the people who find the time to discuss you and make up things that you better than succumbing to a rumour

We all know of the power rumours have, but it’s only because we give it the power it wants to have over us. Truth is no one wants to be associated with a rumour. And there is no such thing as a good rumour.
It’s up to you to decide if you are going to entertain the rumour or not. Don’t make it up just to entertain your friends. Rumours can drive people to a point of wanting to take their lives.

How would you manage to sleep at night knowing loved ones are mourning a life taken too soon because of a web lies you weaved? As much as I strongly condemn rumours, it’s also up to you to decide how much power you are going to let that rumour have over you. It’s not always easy but it’s the best thing you can do.

Prove to the people who find the time to discuss you and make up things that you better than succumbing to a rumour. We all have enough going on in our daily lives, it puzzles me how time gets set aside for this, we have enough negativity within our community. It’s not ok to sort grown-up issues by spreading a rumour; I personally think it’s unacceptable.
With that said, from here on out, can we all try stop the person in their tracks while sharing a rumour and instead try sharing a positive word or a motivational quote. If we can all develop this and make it a habit, soon enough we will all be on a happier path; creating lasting friendships. Help uplift the next person, don’t demoralise them.
I feel it stems from jealousy if not that then wanting to ‘fit in’. And always remember if someone can approach you with a rumour, then they can create one about you.
