MUST READ: Bryan sketches his way through life
"Art is my way of expressing myself. It keeps me busy and out out trouble," he laughed.
Pencil in hand, he puts it to paper.
A wonderful work of art, is what he will produce later.
This is the world 23-year-old artist, Bryan Goodman Tibane has created for himself.
Hailing from Oogies in Witbank, Bryan relocated to live with his grandmother in Newcastle in 2004, after his parents passed away.

Dealing with the loss of his parents, Bryan turned to art as a form of therapy and expression.
“I remember I had a friend at school who was excellent at drawing cars. I was intrigued by his art and decided to try it out. My first sketch was a portrait of South African music sensation, Mandoza, and that is when I realised I had a talent for drawing.”
Since then, Bryan has been an avid artist, sketching his life experiences and capturing people’s most memorable moments, and telling stories through his work.
“Art is my way of expressing myself. It keeps me busy and out out trouble,” he laughed.
When he is not sketching arty works of wonder, Bryan occasionally helps fellow residents sketch and design their dream homes.
However, his real dream is to one day become a professional cartoonist, a career inspired by South African painter and cartoonist, Xolisani Mpofu.

“I had the honour of meeting Xolisani, and he was a true inspiration of what I can achieve using my talents. He also introduced me to a British website whereby I could upload my portfolio and get people to see what I can do.”
Recently, Bryan decided to start selling his work in order to gain more exposure.
“People love a portrait painting and that is what I do best. But I am not limited to portraits; I can draw whatever people want me to.”
Bryan has been in a happy and committed relationship with his girlfriend, Nompumelelo Shabalala for the past four years.
“She is my one and only, and I hope to marry her one day.”
Bryan’s advice to aspiring artists was never to stop believing in themselves.
“Art is not about who has the most talent. It is about being able to tell a story. It is pushing through every obstacle to show what you have to offer. If at first you don’t succeed, then you must try again until you have reached your goal.”
One thing is for sure; Bryan Goodman Tibane is destined for success!
The Newcastle Advertiser wishes him everything of the best in his future endeavours.
