Courier at the movies – The Wizard Of Lies
This isn't a feel good movie but is an eye opener
The Wizard Of Lies is a movie that won’t leave you feeling inspired and cheerful after watching it but will show you how greed and corruption ultimately destroys.
Robert de Niro stars as Bernie Madoff in the movie about the largest fraud in US history. Madoff’s ponzi scheme robbed his victims of $65 billion. De Niro once again gives a stunning performance, portraying the fall of a man who was once on top of the world.
The movie starts off with Madoff confessing to his sons and then takes you on the journey of how his world comes crumbling down. The scandal not only ruined his life but also the lives of the investors who lost millions and most importantly Madoff’s family. The revelations, instead of uniting the family during the time of crisis, tore them apart.
The movie itself is one that you need to watch more than once to fully grasp. De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer, who plays his wife, give award-winning performances and it’s easy to see why both were nominated for numerous awards.
