Prishanta aims to help others through pageant success

Prishanta believes that winning the pageant will give her the platform to make that difference

Confident and compassionate are two words that can be used to describe 22-year-old Prishanta Sewpaul.

With an honours in Psychology to her name, the Dundee lass is also hoping to add pageant winner to that list. Prishanta is one of the contestants in this year’s Miss India SA regional pageant. “I’m nervous and excited. It will be my first pageant and I’m eager to showcase myself and my town.”

Having watched a lot of international pageants, Prishanta knows what to expect but is going into the regionals focused on the experience of it all and not winning. She does, however, have some surprises up her sleeve and her talent for the evening is one of those. “It’s something that isn’t usually done and no one will expect,” she said. Doing the unexpected is something Prishanta is accustomed to.

She plays a host of sports, including chess, swimming, cricket, does karate and is always up for a challenge.

“Whatever I do, I give 100%. I always give the same amount of passion.”

But it’s not only her passion for competing that drives her. Prishanta is also passionate about helping people. “I studied psychology because the human mind always fascinated me. I want to use that to help people and make a difference.”

Prishanta believes that winning the pageant will give her the platform to make that difference. Competitive but also caring, Prishanta lives by one motto, ‘Beauty is not how you look but how you treat others.’

It’s that consideration and compassion for others that Prishanta hopes will shine through on pageant day and help her claim the title.
