The English language is an often strange but wonderful thing.
And while many of us can claim to be quite proficient in the English, there are many words which we may have never heard, let alone used in a sentence or daily conversation.
We’ve found ten words which you may or may not have seen before and their meanings.
Curmudgeon:
Someone who’s very bad-tempered and grumpy.
Skimmington:
A kind of procession once undertaken to make an example of a nagging wife or an unfaithful husband.
Nefelibata:
A cloud walker; one who lives in the cloud of their own imagination or dreams, or one who does not abide by the precepts of society, literature, or art; -An unconventional, unorthodox person.
Blatherskite:
A person who talks at great length without making much sense.
Pulchritudinous:
A person of breathtaking, heartbreaking beauty.
Kerfuffle:
A disturbance or commotion typically caused by a dispute or conflict.
Discombobulate:
To confuse or disconcert; upset; frustrate.
Eucatastrophe:
A happy ending to a story.
Floccinaucinihilipilification:
The action or habit of estimating something as worthless.
Finifugal:
Afraid of finishing anything.
