Philippa Lee, the sixteen-year-old singing sensation

At only 16-years-old, Philippa Lee is a singing sensation on the way to superstardom.

The aspiring artist is a singer, songwriter and plays the guitar. From an early age, Philippa had a love for music, always singing along while her sister played the piano. During her school days at Uelzen, her passion for guitar started after taking lessons from Cathy Durham. In Grade 8 she began composing her own songs and has currently done 11.

Philippa is hoping to launch her debut album, called Photograph, by December.
The album will feature 10 of her songs, including the title track, Photograph. The song focuses on capturing that special moment with someone with a mental photograph.

Like the other songs on her album, it is based on her experiences but in a way that others can relate too. Her musical idol, Grace vanderWaal writes songs in much the same manner.

Philippa recently performed Photograph at the Adonai Music Academy’s music evening at the Methodist Church. Though nervous at first to sing it in front of others, once she got on stage, she put on a professional performance. A musical maestro, Philippa practices daily with her guitar, either strumming away her own songs or learning to play others.

It’s not all she’s passionate about though. Philippa is also somewhat of a sporting star and does swimming, tennis, squash, hockey, indoor cricket and canoeing.

Once she’s done with school, she plans to pursue music as a career, but also get into sports physiotherapy or biokinetics if her first dream doesn’t take off.

Philippa thanked her parents for their continued support and Jan Frederik Van Zyl, Gabby Carter, Greg Will and Jayde Caldecott for always supporting her and encouraging her passion for music.
