Swift response thwarts brazen burglary in Commissioner Street

ONE suspect was apprehended today after quick response from a local security company and Vryheid Neighbourhood Watch members stopped the brazen burglar in his tracks.

A local security company received the call to report a burglary in progress at a home in Commissioner Street and alerted reaction officers, accompanied by Vryheid Neighbourhood Watch members who responded to the call for assistance.

“We arrived at the scene with the key holder,” says Pro 5’s Quinton van der Merwe. “Witnesses pointed out the direction that the suspect had fled in and we gave chase…”

The suspect was apprehended in possession of the stolen goods in a nearby yard and then escorted to Vryheid Police Station, where a case of theft was opened.
