Festive-season safety operation on N1
The initiative forms part of the province’s broader festive-season safety campaign.
Fezile Dabi District Commissioner, Major General Makubo, joined officers on the N1 this week to engage directly with motorists and share vital safety tips as part of a large-scale festive-season roadblock operation.
The high-visibility operation brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including Provincial and Ngwathe Traffic Departments, the Department of Agriculture, Fezile Dabi District Municipality (FDDM), Ngwathe Local Municipality, the Community Policing Forum (CPF), ER24, Home Affairs, and private security companies.

According to officials, the primary focus areas of the roadblock included searching for unlicensed firearms, identifying stolen vehicles, enforcing immigration regulations, detecting drugs and other illicit goods, and ensuring vehicles were roadworthy ahead of the busy holiday travel period.

The initiative forms part of the province’s broader festive-season safety campaign aimed at reducing crime, improving road safety, and ensuring a secure environment for all road users.
A total of 167 vehicles and 391 people were searched.
