Ngwathe golf experience: Driving strategic partnership
The Ngwathe Golf Experience forms part of a broader September programme developed to create different platforms for tourism, business and community participation throughout Tourism Month and Heritage Month.
The Ngwathe Golf Experience hosted by the Edgar Legoale Foundation, will take place on Sunday, September 20, at the Parys Golf Estate. Under the theme, Driving Strategic Partnerships for Investment, Economic Growth, Tourism Development and Sustainable Transformation the Ngwathe Golf Experience forms part of the broader Ngwathe Spring Experience.
According to the Foundation the initiative was established to create platforms that connect tourism, business, sport, culture, entertainment and local economic development during Tourism Month and Heritage Month celebrated in September.
More than a Golf Day, the initiative has been developed as a platform to bring together business leaders, corporate partners, government institutions, tourism stakeholders, investors, entrepreneurs, professionals and golf lovers while showcasing Parys and the broader Ngwathe area as a destination for tourism, business and investment.
Through the Ngwathe Golf Experience, the Foundation seeks to create an environment where these relationships can be strengthened while contributing towards the broader objective of growing tourism, encouraging investment and creating opportunities within the local economy.
Golf, business and strategic partnerships
The theme of the Ngwathe Golf Experience reflects the Foundation’s belief that partnerships remain central to sustainable economic and community development.
“Golf provides an environment in which participants from different professional and institutional backgrounds can engage outside traditional business settings. The Ngwathe Golf Experience seeks to use this environment to strengthen relationships between corporate South Africa, government institutions, tourism stakeholders, business organisations, entrepreneurs and other development partners,” the Foundation said.
The intention is not simply to host a successful sporting event, but to create a platform through which relationships established during the Experience can contribute towards broader conversations around investment, tourism development, economic growth and sustainable transformation.
Positioning Ngwathe as a destination
The Ngwathe Golf Experience also forms part of the Foundation’s broader vision to strengthen the tourism profile of Ngwathe and position the municipality as a destination offering a diverse combination of tourism, business, sport, culture, heritage and entertainment experiences.
Parys already has an established tourism offering supported by accommodation establishments, restaurants, outdoor and adventure activities, heritage attractions, arts and lifestyle experiences. The Golf Experience provides an opportunity to introduce corporate guests, business leaders, professionals and other participants to this offering while encouraging greater movement into the local visitor economy.
The economic value of attracting visitors extends beyond the venue at which an event takes place. Visitors travelling to Parys have the potential to support accommodation establishments, restaurants, tourism businesses and other local service providers. The Foundation therefore seeks to ensure that the experiences developed under the Ngwathe Experience contribute towards creating opportunities for local businesses and communities wherever possible.
