Birthday bash for Koei to benefit Parys SPCA

Pretty Koei was but a teenage bitch when she let her dogs out on animal abuse and neglect, raising much community awareness for this sad but worthy cause as well as almost R30 000 for the Parys SPCA. Koei started her SPCA campaign with a hundred kilometer, six-day hike through the world’s largest and oldest meteorite impact crate, the Vredefort Dome Heritage Site. Koei’s grandmother and her fourteen puppies were left abandoned in the garage of a Pretoria home after the owners moved home.

One of these puppies, Koei’s mother Sheena was adopted by the Malan family who later moved to Parys where Kooei was born in a cupboard on the 7th of July 2007 with 6 brothers and sisters.
Koei’s fourth birthday was celebrated at a posh Parys restaurant. Several paintings as well as a statue of Koei by Parys artists were auctioned off to the benefit of Parys SPCA, including a portrait of Koei by local artist, Lisken van der Linde, whose portrait of Madiba was donated to The Nelson Mandela Foundation in the presence of Graca Machel (Parys Gazatte 25 November 2010).
The four candles on Koei’s bone shaped birthday cake, sponsored by Harry’s Cheesecake, obviously had to be blown out by someone else. Parys Pooch Koei sadly aware of her grandmother’s fate is more intent on blowing the whistle against cruelty towards animals. Had she not been sterilized for instance her offspring would by now have filled a world cup soccer stadium.
One bitch and her litter can create an offspring of hundreds of dogs in six years. More than 60% of them would have been abandoned, homeless and neglected, the same fate as her extended family of more than half a billion dogs worldwide.
Koei, is a pooch born for fundraising. She will celebrate her 10th birthday for the benefit of the SPCA in an imaginative and delightful way!! Venue, date and format is still a close kept secret but will be barked out at a later stage. Viva Koei. Viva SPCA. #fleesmustfall #wholetthedogsout!
