She was elected at the DA’s Provincial Congress in Thaba Nchu on Saturday when the other three provincial office-bearers were re-elected.
They are the leader, Patricia Kopane (MP), chairperson, Dr Annelie Lotriet (MP) and finance chairperson, David van Vuuren (MPL). She was recently unanimously re-elected chair of the Moqwathe (Ngwathe and Moqhaka) constituency committee. She has served on the party’s provincial council since 2008 and the provincial executive committee since last year.
Serfontein is a teacher and farmer’s wife. She and her husband, Lucas, have two sons, Luhan, aged 12, and Dian, 10.
