The explosion that was heard shortly after 17:00 on Monday afternoon, was because of rock blasting for pipe installation for bulk services for new sites at Extension 7 next to the Dover road, says Ngwathe spokesperson, Steve Naale.
The sound of the unexpected explosion caused panic as residents started phoning We Care and other emergency services to find out what was happening.
