The 2021 Fezile Dabi Cross Country Running League, presented by Parys Multisport Club, concluded on Saturday 14 August. The fourth league in this series also incorporated the 2021 AFS Fezile Dabi Cross Country Running Championship. Weather conditions were less than perfect as a cold front gusted across an already challenging course. But the Harriers of Fezile Dabi showed up and faced the course. Based on position, every athlete gets a point for participation.
Every athlete counts and contributes to their club or school’s score. The clubs awarded for their participation at the 2021 Fezile Dabi Cross Country Championship are: 1st Place: Parys Primary School 2nd Place: Parys Multisport Club 3rd Place: Salomon Senekal High. The 2021 Fezile Dabi Open Cross Country League fulfilled its mandate of presenting athletes in our region with the opportunity to participate in cross country running and identify athletes of provin- cially electable standard to compete at interprovincial and provincial level events.

“Our humbleness exceeds our pride when we look back on the 2021 season for this event. Something spectacular was born during a time of global devastation, serving as a reminder that good things still happen,” says Pierre Fourie, CEO of Parys Multisport.
Parys, Sasolburg, Viljoenskroon, Kroonstad, Welkom and Vanderbijlpark were represented by nine clubs and schools in this cross country running league. A total of 153 attempts at this world-class venue produced 35 athletes who qualified to represent our region at the AFS Provincial Cross Country Championships in Bloemfontein on 20–21 August 2021.
“We are also proud to announce the 2021 Fezile Dabi inter-provincial cross country team. These athletes obtained the qualification standards required to represent the Fezile Dabi region at inter-provincial and provincial cross country running competitions in the Free State Province.”
