New Mayor and Speaker announced for District Council

DA Cllr Dennis Khasudi was elected as Executive Mayor for the Fezile Dabi District Council at a stylish inaugural ceremony yesterday, Thursday 2 December. The District Council’s new Speaker is DA Cllr Sidney Pittaway.

Both are councillers in the Moqhaka Municipality.

The inauguration included a fire drill parade by the Fezile Dabi District Municipality’s Fire Brigade.

“It is a single honour of my life to address you for the first time as the Executive Mayor of Fezile Dabi. We build on the work of those before us. Grateful for the support of my wife and our two kids,” Executive Mayor Khasudi said.

Cllr Pittaway on his turn highlighted the Council as “…a place of business. This is not a game to us, not to my organisation and to myself. Let us not make this a political game. We must do what is right for the people who have put us here.”
