Doctor shot in armed burglary at hospital

“The incident will be thoroughly investigated"

A 26 year old male doctor at Mofumahali Manapo Mopeli Regional Hospital in QwaQwa was shot during an armed burglary last night *Tuesday, May 21 at about 20:00.
According to Mondli Mvambi, spokesperson for the Free State Department of Health, the unexpected violent burglary incident happened at the secured Doctors Quarters at the hospital precinct.
The doctor was rushed to theatre and is recovering in ICU.
“All life is precious and violent crime is a negative indicator to our development as a country. We condemn this shooting incident and many other incidents of violent crime in any part of our society” said a shocked Mathabo Leeto, Free State MEC for Health after the unpleasant news.
“The incident will be thoroughly investigated, so that we can take further steps to tighten security into our health facilities. We thank God for preserving the life of our Doctor.” concluded Leeto.
