It was originally anticipated that construction teams would be on-site by February/middle March, but according to Molefe progress has been halted due to various factors since the sod turning.
Plans for the multibillion rand development of the Selete Precinct along the R59 outside Parys, is going ahead, confirmed project owner, Dr Eric Molefe. The Selete foundation delegation, led by Molefe, gave the assurance to Ngwathe Local Municipality’s Municipal Manager, Dr F.P Mothamaha, during a meeting on April 24 in Parys.
According to Ngwathe’s communication unit, feedback was given on outstanding matters while visiting identified sites. Agreement was also reached on further engagements with both internal and external technical stakeholders.
According to Molefe, the development of the Selete Precinct will be done by Rand Holdings.Sod turning for the development that will take place along the R59 road near Parys Airfield and Parys Golf and Country Estate was done in November last year by Ngwathe’s Executive Mayor councillor Victoria De Beer-Mthombeni together with stakeholders.

Announcing the planned development last year, Molefe and De Beer, in a media conference, said the planned development will among others include a solar plant, rehabilitation of the Parys Airfield to operate as a strategic freight hub, a private hospital, stepdown facility, private primary and high school, hotel, truck stop and service station.

It was originally anticipated that construction teams would be on-site by February/middle March, but according to Molefe progress has been halted due to various factors since the sod turning. The municipality on Friday said it has identified technically skilled managers to oversee the developmental stages of the project that will mean revenue and economic growth for the town.
