People invest in people. Think of what can be done if we as a business community, invest the energy we put into our businesses in our town. That is the drive behind the Parys Business Chamber that will be fostering a thriving business environment by promoting economic development in Parys through proactive Chamber actions, partnerships and community engagement.
Introducing the Parys Business Chamber to the community of Parys during a recent launch meeting at the Parys Golf & Country Estate, it was said that the Chamber will represent the interests of local businesses in policy discussions and decision-making, and facilitate meaningful connections among businesses, investors and stakeholders.
Through the Chamber, economic development will be driven to attract investment and create growth opportunities.
Training, mentorship and resources to empower entrepreneurs will further assist in skills and capacity building, while the Chamber will be partnering with local organisations to support sustainable business practices and social responsibility.
The vision is for a prosperous and dynamic Parys business community that contributes to local economic growth and enhances the quality of life for all.
Guest speakers Carla de Villiers-Malan, president of the Golden Triangle Chamber of Commerce (GTCoC) and former GTCoC president Jaco Verwey, elaborated on the successes of the GTCoC as united voice when it comes to municipal issues, and the remarkable work that has been done over years to create networking opportunities, building the local economy and making a difference in the community.
Despite challenges we see in every town, a business chamber can make a difference in every town if all work towards the same dream and goals.
The success of the GTCoC is first of all, its community involvement. This was once again seen with the raving success of this year’s Rocking the Vaal event, feeding 12,000 people, Verwey said.

He also highlighted the importance of partnership, especially when it comes to stakeholders in the tourism and hospitality industry, agriculture, and the municipality.
“It is not what you can get from a Business Chamber, but what you can contribute to make a difference in your community. That is why we call it a ‘work of heart, ‘ De Villiers-Malan concluded.
“We are not here to make deals, but to invest in people. Being part of the Parys Business Chamber means giving your expertise, time, and love to the benefit of Parys. After all, you cannot sit on the pavilion and break your ankle. You need to be part of the race. Ignite the fire and optimise the potential Parys has to offer as a tourism town. See the chamber as a non-profit, non-paid platform to make a difference.”
The monthly fee to join the Parys Business Chamber is R100.
