Native grass species making a comeback in the Wetland
The rehabilitation of the Parys Wetland Park is an amazing community initiative sponsored by Damlaagte Solar, Ilikwa Solar and Sasol.
Something special is happening in the Parys Wetland Park. With the thorn trees, catbush and invasives being thinned out, the native grassland species is already making one proper comeback.
An example is the Common Lobelia that was only seen in a isolated patch next to shooting range. This season however, they sprung up in an entirely new area laying a carpet of blue in between the rail trail and the stream.

They seem to like all the clayish areas where it dries out during winter. They like a bit of disturbance and we might be seeing a lot more of them throughout the wetland due to the ongoing rehabilitating activities in the Wetland.

Apparently these flowers were used to make ink.
Looking forward to see what else will be making a comeback as the season progress.
