Suspect arrested for alleged unlawful possession of drugs

Drugs to the value of R50 000, including crystal meth, Mandrax tablets, rock, kat, and ecstasy tablet swere confiscated.

The Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit, in conjunction with the North West Provincial Anti-Gang Unit and Provincial Drugs Task Team, arrested a 32-year-old Nigerian national on November 12 in Klerksdorp for alleged unlawful possession of drugs.

Lieutenant Colonel Tinyiko Mathebula, police spokesperson, says the team was acting on information received about a Nigerian male alleged to be dealing in drugs in Klerksdorp.

“A search was conducted at his flat, which led to the discovery of suspected drugs, including crystal meth, mandrax tablets, rock, kat, and ecstasy tablets, with an estimated value of R50 000.”

The suspect will appear in the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court, facing charges of unlawful possession of drugs.
