After years of experience, collaboration and planning hundreds of events across South Africa with student residences of universities, in 2016 Partyfest X (Partyfest’s special events division) will be launching South Africa’s first student music festival called PotchVegas at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom from 22-25 September.
“We are going to do something that hasn’t been done in Potchefstroom yet,” says Lian Fourie, founder of PotchVegas
Not only will this festival stand as a private sanctuary to protect “student/social life as a whole, but will also boost the economy of Potchefstroom as it is set to bring in millions.
There will be no direct academic institutes or political party politics involved and the idea is to create the ultimate student environment for all students moving towards an international standard.
”We are also focused on having different music genres for different clientele, hence, we have three different areas of entertainment with one of them being the mind-blowing mainstage giving a mixture of the best artists and DJs in SA,” says Lian.
“We are also using this platform to promote and grow national student talent for up and coming artist’s and DJs.”
The charity aspect is also very important to them as they will be donating R10 per pass sold for PotchVegas to the best cause relevant to their festival(still to be decided), and already over R20 000 has been raised.
The food stalls they will have will also cater for different tastes of foods for example gourmet foods as we all know this part is very important for any festival.
“We will also have a unique approach to the stalls that will be at the festival, we feel they must add to a broader dream of proudly SA,” says Lian.
The four-year plan is to make this an international “student music festival” being one of the “must-dos” of your student calendar globally.
“It is time to write our own story and let the world come and explore it as I have had some of the best experiences right here in SA.”
“The legend must turn tables and it will,” Lian added.
They are taking every measure for safety and security.
They have the latest online technology and their aim is to keep everyone as informed as possible through social media channels and their website www.potchvegas.com as they go along.
People can get them on their social media channels namely: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat all under PotchVegas.
Their first two phases of passes are already sold out and they are currently in their last discounted phase, which is phase 3 at R 600 plus R40 (Admin fee).
