A plucky 21-year-old stab victim pursued his attackers after being robbed in Ikageng at 00:30 on Monday, leading to the arrest of one of the robbers.
According to Const. Kelebogile Trom, Ikageng SAPS spokesperson, the man was walking to the garage in Mokgobo Street just after midnight when he saw two African males walking on the opposite side of the road. “Suddenly, they started running towards him and one of them stabbed him in the face,” she said.
According to Trom, the complainant tried to fight them but they overpowered him and noticed that he was bleeding.
“They took his tablet phone and ran away. He decided to give chase and, on the way, saw the police vehicle parked at the Boiki Tlhapi clinic and asked for help. The police reacted swiftly and arrested one of the alleged robbers,” she said.
Trom commended the quick reaction of the police who were on patrol and successfully arrested the suspect. She again warned community members to avoid walking alone at night because it is not safe.
