Child abandonment, neglect and abuse are on the increase and child removal has become a daily phenomenon within Potchefstroom.
Students at the Suid-Afrikaanse Vrouefederasie, (SAVF) conducted a needs analysis at various welfare organisations which showed that every welfare organisation is experiencing a shortage of temporary safe care parents.
A temporary safe care parent provides a home for children who need to be removed immediately.
On 19 September, the SAVF will host an information day for any individual or couple who would like to find out more about temporary safe care or would be interested in becoming temporary safe care parents. The event will be held at the Potchefstroom Service Centre for the Aged at 12:00.
If you are interested or would like to know more, please contact (018) 297 5240 and ask for any of the students.
Another event has been planned for 20 September.
