Residents of Greenfield were shocked to find a foetus in the road last Saturday.

Residents of Greenfield were shocked to find a foetus in the road last Saturday.

According to WO Ishmael Mohutsiwa, a group of people called the Ikageng SAPS to the scene. According to them, they could only make out the head of the tiny bundle. When one woman at the scene realised what it was, she took a shovel and moved it onto the grass on the side of the road, out of the view of children.
Mohutsiwa says the developing baby may have been less than two months old. The police are now investigating a case of concealment of birth.
The SAPS is still looking for the unknown mother.
Prior to this case, the Ikageng SAPS were called to a house in Ext. 7 last Friday where they found the body of a 56-year-old man in a shack.
Mohutsiwa says the deceased’s sister had notified the police after she detected a foul smell coming from the shack. The body was taken to the mortuary.
The cause of death is unknown at this stage and the police are still investigating.
